I admit it, I watch the Bachelor. (Eh, you know I do.) I watch it to make fun of it, I mean why else would you watch?
One thing that is kind of puzzling? interesting? unprecedented is that until tonight, every Asian or hapa woman had made it through. Tonight the first Asian woman was "sent home without a rose," but two remain, and one seems like she has a shot at being Mrs. Dr. Tool.
I'm wondering if this Bachelor is more open to dating multi-cultural women because he lives in Hawaii. It was my first thought when all the mixed Asians got roses during the first ceremony and continued to get them during the following weeks. (I know, I'm hopelessly addicted.)
I don't know what to feel about this situation. On the one hand, right on, sistahs! Usually the multi-cultis are the ones sent home first. On the other hand, I hate that this white dude is giving Asian/hapa women validation that we're acceptable wife material. Perhaps he truly is "color blind" and doesn't just think having a hapa wife will give him cred in Hawaii.
I want to knock some sense into the women who go on the show and make fools of themselves (and, therefore, all women by proxy), and yet, I am big, fucking hypocrite because I lap it up with a spoon. I can't help it. Seeing two Asian women make it this far feels like a small victory. I mean, shoot. There will never be an "ethnic" Bachelor. Ever.
I fucking hate this show.
